Mac's Kitchen was originally founded by Jeff MacFarland in 1976 who named it in honor of his mother and her recipes. Built in 1947 the building was one of the few places in the Keys where you could get a bite to eat as Grainger's Gulf Side Inn. In 1987 Jeff hired Angie as a cook where they began working side by side, shortly after Paula was invited to work with them. Mac's was purchased by Angie. Jeff moved to Vero Beach where he has Mrs. Mac's Filling Station restaurant. While keeping with many original recipes we have expanded in all areas. We have continuously been voted The Best in the People's Choice Awards and Best Hometown Caf along with numerous other awards and acknowledgements. We have been a local's favorite for years and we have grown to be famous world wide, bringing many people back year after year. Our goal is to continue to serve award winning food with fantastic service in a classic FL Keys atmosphere and keep you coming back for more. A fantastic addition with spacious parking and northbound US1 access with plenty of room to bring your friends. WHAT ARE THEY SAY'N? I had the chilli with a side of rice and fries and my wife had the Biffalo burger, both large plates of food and good value. Quick service and attentive staff thanks Bridgette excellent Vanilla milkshake and large soft drinks. Only had room to share a desert, but the rum cake was good. We would have had Key lime pie, but had already had that for lunch! Go try out this excellent place whilst your in Key Lago. Mac's was our first stop when we came back. The lobster bite appetizer was wonderful and entree of yellow tail in a lobster sauce was beyond great! We always enjoy the various menu options for their creativity and great taste! The fun, friendly family atmosphere was exactly what we needed on our first night! Mac's on the way to Key West and Mrs. Mac's II on the way home. The chili is good, pork sandwich, Philly and fish. In 1987 Jeff hired Angie as a cook where they began working side by side, shortly after Paula was invited to work with them. The dish was excellently prepared. The pie was sweet, creamy and citrusy. The staff were so warm amd friendly as soon as we crossed the threshold and made us really feel at home. The staff is extremely friendly and welcoming like everyone in KL, and our family enjoyed steak dinners with all of the fixings a night off from all the seafood. I just like the pan fried fish better. The fish was placed on a mound of sweet plantain rice. I crosed by this place on my way to Key Largo. I would've liked them with more of a spicy chimichurri flavor, but they were fine. mrs macs key largo
